Kittery Outlet Malls!

Kittery is the oldest incorporated town in Maine, incorporated in 1647. It was also known as a small relaxing town with the Portsmouth Navy Shipyard being the most famous landmark. Then in 1982 the Maine Outlet Mall was built and Kittery started to represent shopping in Maine. Surrounding the mall was the famous Kittery Trading Post and the famous Weathervane Restaurant.

The Kittery Trading Post was established by Philip Adams back in 1938, now with over 40,000 square feet of retail space and the largest shooting sports department in New England, it's a major attraction in the area. The Weathervane Restaurant was established in 1969 by Ray and Bea Gagnon and currently has 15 locations in New York and New England. Both these businesses were very successful before the Kittery Outlet Malls appeared but after the Kittery Malls opened all the local route 1 businesses bloomed.

Shopping became the buzzword around the Kittery area, and outlet shopping to be exact. The Kittery Outlet Malls became famous over the years and have made Kittery the shopping capital of southern Maine. Today there are over 120 outlet stores known as the Kittery Outlet Malls.

With stores like Black and Decker and Yummies Candy Store there is something for everybody. Most of the stores have been around for years, but from time to time stores move out. When they do there seems to be no shortage of companies filling in the empty spaces.
